  • It teaches people to manage upwards instead of doing good work. It rewards performance over truth.

  • It creates cultures where the real conversations happen in the car park after the meeting, not in the meeting itself.

  • It makes capable people doubt themselves.

  • It makes good teams mediocre.

  • It makes organisations that could be moving feel like they are wading through something nobody will name.
