Experiment #2

Why #2?

We did Experiment #1 in 2021 with rlc global (our coach-to-coach business), which was about being more effective, satisfied, and connected. BIG ASK. We started by looking at what the most significant disruptions and interruptions were. Singularly for everyone was NOTIFICATIONS. The Experiment was more than simply going quiet on our phones.

We recently enjoyed having Tim Duggan[1] at our Mallorca gathering. He talked about the word change and how we can work backwards—our definitions and responses can become negative and create negative emotions. He said to change it to an experiment. I also read Noah Kagan's book from App Sumo, which says the same thing: When we focus on change, it's a non-starter, yet when we use experimentation, it means we are accepting failing, learning, and unlearning; it's intuitive.

So here we are in:

Experiment # 2

Back to where we are today—we invest a lot of time in building our knowledge, be it attending webinars, self-growth programs, learning, networks, seeking out different perspectives, or reading in any way we can continually improve. We must also test what works and what doesn't; the best way is to experiment.

Experiment #2 is all about thriving: owning time, life balance and getting shit done!

We experimented with a role in the business in 2023-2024 (May to June). While the outcome wasn't as expected, it gave us a boost to improve. We identified a list of tasks and outcomes that were left unfinished, with over 40 items accumulated. Experiment #2 focuses on improving being and doing by completing these tasks. As coaches, we need to do what we say through unlearning first. From July 1st through August 31st, we will commence Experiment #2 to help us.

How it will work

Experiment Hypothesis: We should have a good understanding and clear, actionable outputs to coach, share, and demonstrate factually what thrive looks and feels like. Review areas of the business impacted +/—personally (time back, life balance), professionally (growth, loss, fail, success), and financially (£ and client feedback).

Experiment timescales- 60 days

Experiment parameters- Maximum of 60 client-facing meetings, complete every action on the unfinished list, simply the complex and link back to our Framework to share the outcomes.

Experiment measurements data method- Collecting daily data (by action completed, time taken, volume of actions versus progress) using standard scrum format: to do, doing, done, stuck with specific timings and outcomes, which we do daily (maximum of 7 mins) and weekly same format more thorough for  17 minutes.

So that's Experiment #2…ensuring we remain congruent and thrive.

1.      Live to our values

2.     Do as we coach

3.     Factual results.

We will keep you updated.
